About Yatiyanthota:
Yatiyanthota is a small vilagge in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is about a 2,5 hour drive from Colombo or Negombo at the west coast. The further you drive to centre of the country, the smaller the roads become. Also there is a huge difference in the landscape, the chaos of the big cities makes place for rubber and tea plantations. Just outside of Yatiyanthota you will find de MH Perera school and behind this school further on the mountain is the Good Shepherd Convent.
In May 2013 Sister Veronica started as the Sister Superior of the convent. There about 10 girls living in the convent at the moment, but there are 14 other children living at home with their families who are also supported by the Ayubowan Foundation. These children come from families who live at the plantations nearby, these families don't have the money to send the children to school so the Ayubowan Foundation pays for the education of these children. During the holidays the children go home to be with their family.
